Dena Carolyne Burns – July, 2013

Dena Carolyn Burns, age 6, resident of Swainsboro, passed away Thursday in Swainsboro. Dena was the daughter of Preston and Sonia Ann Rich Burns. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Geraldine Rich.

Funeral services for Dena will be held Monday morning at 11:00 A.M. from the chapel of Tomlinson Funeral Home with Reverend Emory Fennell officiating. Interment will follow in the Twin City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin Rich, D.J. Rich, Eddie Malphrus and Brendan Burns.

Survivors include : Parents—Preston and Sonia Rich Burns

Brothers—Danny Slaton, John Newton,Jr.

Sisters—Megan Slaton, Blake Burns, Tiffany Ashley

Grandfather-W.L. Rich

Grandmother—Carolyn Burns
Grandfather—Herman Cason
Emanuel County sheriff’s officials say an autistic 6-year-old girl has drowned in a pond.

Sheriff Tyson Stephens told sources that foul play is not suspected in the death of Dena Burns.

Investigators say her parents reported her missing Thursday morning and they told authorities they believed she walked away from their home in Swainsboro.

Officials found the girl unconscious in a nearby pond and were unable to revive her.

  1. that was my little sister. its hard to loose someone that lived with you for 6 years. and she wasnt autistic.. she had Angelman Syndrome. so yall need to get it right. my mama and daddy hurt every single day. and when i find out who did it im gonna show them how it feels!!!!

    • I am sorry for your loss. I didn’t mean any offense by listing her picture or name. I just wanted to honor and remember a beautiful little girl who died tragically like my own child did.
