Lesson Plan

If you’ve never gone through the process of creating a lesson from beginning to end, I have to tell you, it is a lot of work and planning.  I truly had never thought about the entirety of the process, from figuring out what lesson you are teaching, to fitting it into the benchmarks, figuring out what tools you are going to use, understanding how the kids are going to learn the lesson, grading the lesson and implementing the lesson… It is time consuming and intense.  It took me several days to perfect one lesson.  My only question  is, “How do you do it for six hours a day, ten months a year?”  That question alone intimidates me and I have to ask myself, “Can I do this?”  I think, hope and pray the answer is yes.  I can honestly say that this course has opened my eyes to the sheer work behind teaching.  I can also say that I loved every second of this course, so I am hoping that will translate into a future in which I always love the task of teaching.

This class has given me tremendous insight in how important it is to be prepared, to know what tools are available to help you teach a lesson in the most interactive, interesting, informative way possible.  The tools I explored this last semester seem like vital tools that will enable me to be the most effective teacher I can be.
